Topic 9 – EdCamp Session
Planning and Organization
First the class used a tool called padlet to share ideas on different EdCamp topics, and then we voted 3 times each for which ones we would like to participate in. Then breakout rooms were used on Zoom so we could meet in groups and carry out the group discussion, and a shared document was utilized to help record the discussion. I think that this is a good way to bring up topics with little preparation, and is therefore not asking too much of any one participant. One thing that may be a downside is equitable access to technology, not everyone has the ability to connect to a reliable wifi source, or has a webcam/microphone that could be used to participate online.
Professional Learning
It was very interesting to partake in an EdCamp, especially one with so many different subject specialties. Our topic was outdoor learning; every subject had a chance to speak on their experiences and different ideas on how to incorporate outdoor learning into the classroom. We kept track of our ideas and conversation in a shared google doc, and it has become an awesome resource to use in the future of our teaching careers!
My Future

One day I want to move back to Penticton, what better place is there to do outdoor education than here?
