Inquiry 5: City of Stars Progress + a Fun Song

City of Stars

The last few weeks have been busy: we got our practicum placements, there are about 5 group projects on the go, and life outside of school has been a blur as well. Needless to say I may have slacked off a bit on my goal of 10 minutes a day of practice, I still practiced when I could but my progress thus far can be heard below. Next week I will post about my progress on Moonlight Sonata which was fairly neglected due to the busy schedule and my increased enjoyment of City of Stars.

I am not as proud to show this as I would like to be, but here it is! So please enjoy 🙂

The Fun Song – Don’t Stop Believing by Journey

Because of my slacking, I was a little frustrated with my above performance. To make up for it I recorded a part of one of my favourite default songs. I call it a default song because when I get angry that my fingers are not doing what they are supposed to do I swap to this song to prove to myself that I can do it. Arguably, the score for Don’t Stop Believing is harder than City of Stars, but because I have been playing it for years my fingers know what to do.

Final Post Discussion

Did you enjoy the free inquiry topic you chose as much as you expected? I did enjoy the free inquiry topic, I think that if I had more time this semester I would have enjoyed it more, but it gave me an opportunity to sit down and play the piano which I loved.

What advice would you give yourself if you could send a message back to yourself at the beginning of the semester? If I could send a message back to myself I would say to prioritize the practicing more – it always makes me feel better after a session.

What did you enjoy most about your inquiry? I enjoyed getting to show off my skills (if you can call it that haha!) I love playing the piano for people, and this was a low stress method of doing that.

Which EdTech tools were most helpful to you in documenting your inquiry? Figuring out how to embedd youtube videos was the most helpful, and I used it most often.
