Inquiry 6: Moonlight Sonata + a Fun Song
Moonlight Sonata
My progress for Moonlight Sonata has been palpable, at least when I play the song now I can feel the music a little better and some of the transitions are easier. I did not get as far as I would like into the song, my arrangement has >5 pages and I spent the majority of my practice on the 1st page. I think that although this song sounds easy and looks easy on the page, the level of difficulty is above what I had accomplished in my RCM days, nevertheless I did my best. Enjoy the video below of me playing the whole first page 🙂
Golden Hour
In the spirit of the last few inquiry posts, I wanted to show off another fun song I can play. There is a funny story behind this song that I would like to share as well. If you watch the video below you’ll see a VERY unconventional technique (please do not tell my piano teacher, she would be so angry!) but I started doing this at a suggestion from my partner Jesse. I was trying to figure out how to play the high notes when all of my fingers were otherwise occupied and Jesse suggested I should use my foot, I laughed and said that that is ridiculous because it would involve me switching the pedal to my left foot, and lifting my right up and trying to play individual keys…its crazy. But then I tried it. And with a stiletto heel, I made it work! Please enjoy!!
